We seem to be in a continuing feedback loop of repeating a past that our country has yet to address. Our history is one of spectacular achievement (as in black senators of the Reconstruction era or the advances that culminated in the election of Barack Obama) followed by a violent backlash that threatens to erase the gains and then a long, slow climb to the next mountain, where the cycle begins again. TheJesmyn Ward Repeating The Past Sayings By Jesmyn Ward: We seem to be in a continuing feedback loop of repeating a past that our
There is no shame in ignorance and failing; there is only shame in not being willing to learn and repeating the same errors over again.John Kramer Repeating The Past Sayings By John Kramer: There is no shame in ignorance and failing; there is only shame in not being
In this paper I propose the existence of two distinct presentations of DID, a Stable and an Active one. While people with Stable DID struggle with their traumatic past, with triggers that re-evoke that past and with the problems of daily functioning with severe dissociation, people with Active DID are, in addition, also engaged in a life of current, on-going involvement in abusive relationships, and do not respond to treatment in the same way as other DID patients. The paper observes these two proposed DID presentations in the context of other trauma-based disorders, through the lens of their attachment relationship. It proposes that the type, intensity and frequency of relational trauma shape - and can thus predict - the resulting mental disorder.

People are always quick to call evil what they do not know. The unknown sprouts fear. It spreads like an infection, burrowing into every facet of their lives. They need a scapegoat, someone to blame. Fingers are pointed, accusations are made, and a target lands on somebody's back. They grow angry. They turn violent.
To history, human nature must be a stubborn and tiring student. No matter how many times history tries to show it the error of its ways, it never learns from its mistakes.
Kelseyleigh Reber Repeating The Past Sayings By Kelseyleigh Reber: People are always quick to call evil what they do not know. The unknown sprouts
We may seem to forget a person, a place, a state of being, a past life, but meanwhile what we are doing is selecting new actors, seeking the closest reproduction to the friend, the lover, the husband we are trying to forget, in order to re-enact the drama with understudies. And one day we open our eyes and there we are, repeating the same story. How could it be otherwise? The design comes from within us. It is internal. It is what the old mystics described as karma, repeated until the spiritual or emotional experience was understood, liquidated, achieved.Anais Nin Repeating The Past Sayings By Anais Nin: We may seem to forget a person, a place, a state of being, a past
If you don't consciously design and choose your affirmations you are susceptible to repeating and reliving the fears, insecurities, and limitations of your past.Hal Elrod Repeating The Past Sayings By Hal Elrod: If you don't consciously design and choose your affirmations you are susceptible to repeating and
Ignorance and its denial will, sad to say, lead us down the same road as it did in all past history.Jordan Maxwell Repeating The Past Sayings By Jordan Maxwell: Ignorance and its denial will, sad to say, lead us down the same road as
Anyone who has read enough, explored enough and experienced enough, somewhere in his/ her life will realize that the life is repeating itself again and again and again. He/she will soon understand there is nothing new to discover, all quests of human life have been experience and discovered in the past and all we do to play the game over and over to gain a different result, like an idiot who watches movie several time and hope to see a different ending. In such age, people no to remain enthusiastic, they need to still be excited about the story, which they have heard more than millions of times. Hence, intellectuals and creators create new toys for them. The toys that practically has the same purpose and affect the same result, but ordinary human does not need to know that. They need to be interested to play, because if we stop, the world will stop, and then the age of nothingness will end. And we cannot let that happen can we?Kambiz Shabankareh Repeating The Past Sayings By Kambiz Shabankareh: Anyone who has read enough, explored enough and experienced enough, somewhere in his/ her life
Disregard for the past will never do us any good. Without it we cannot know truly who we are.Syd Moore Repeating The Past Sayings By Syd Moore: Disregard for the past will never do us any good. Without it we cannot know
Grief, I believe, is cumulative-each experience of loss shaping the size and scope of the next, each loss holding reverberations of the losses a person has experienced over a lifetime. The pain of grief is real, but it's also an echo and an aftershock, the spirits of past emotions rising up to grip your hand again. Examine one loss and you're likely to find another inside of it, and then another inside of that one, all that grief repeating like a set of Russian nesting dolls.Meg Donohue Repeating The Past Sayings By Meg Donohue: Grief, I believe, is cumulative-each experience of loss shaping the size and scope of the
We're doomed to repeat the past no matter what. That's what it is to be alive. It's pretty dense kids who haven't figured that out by the time they're ten ... Most kids can't afford to go to Harvard and be misinformed.Kurt Vonnegut Repeating The Past Sayings By Kurt Vonnegut: We're doomed to repeat the past no matter what. That's what it is to be

When I left class that day, I did not tell them what I myself was just beginning to discover: how similar our own fate was becoming to Gatsby's. He wanted to fulfill his dream by repeating the past, and in the end he discovered that the past was dead, the present a sham, and there was no future. Was this not similar to our revolution, which had come in the name of our collective past and had wrecked our lives in the name of dream?Azar Nafisi Repeating The Past Sayings By Azar Nafisi: When I left class that day, I did not tell them what I myself was
Historians are not scientists. They cannot (and should not even trying to) establish universal laws of social or political "physics" with reliable predictive powers. Why? Because there is no possibility of repeating the single, multi-millennium experiment that constant to the past. The sample size of human history is one.Niall Ferguson Repeating The Past Sayings By Niall Ferguson: Historians are not scientists. They cannot (and should not even trying to) establish universal laws
Fearing the future & worrying about repeating the past will always rob one of the present moment.Timothy Pina Repeating The Past Sayings By Timothy Pina: Fearing the future & worrying about repeating the past will always rob one of the
Fear keeps us rooted in the past. Fear of the unknown, fear of abandonment, fear of rejection, fear of not having enough, fear of not being enough, fear of the future-all these fears and more keep us trapped, repeating the same old patterns and making the same choices over and over again. Fear prevents us from moving outside the comfort-or even the familiar discomfort-of what we know. It's nearly impossible to achieve our highest vision for our lives as long as we are being guided by our fears.Debbie Ford Repeating The Past Sayings By Debbie Ford: Fear keeps us rooted in the past. Fear of the unknown, fear of abandonment, fear

This book was written observing the premise that the seeds of Holocaust denial take root and prosper with misinformation. Clarity and transparency are imperative, as they leave no room for denial theories that would deprive the victims justice, or rob the living of a future. Generations of historians have enthusiastically gone about their craft knowing full well that 'he who owns the past, owns the future'. Improperly documented history, or more precisely, fraudulent versions of history not only deprive the victims of pasts injustices due recognition of their suffering, but also rob the living of a fair chance at a future free from the dangers of repeating past injustices.
A.E. Samaan Repeating The Past Sayings By A.E. Samaan: Past is PrologueThis book was written observing the premise that the seeds of Holocaust denial
I think today the church faces a very real challenge in not repeating the errors of the past, in sort of a stand off, a fear of science.George Coyne Repeating The Past Sayings By George Coyne: I think today the church faces a very real challenge in not repeating the errors
Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. Keep asking questions. Keep making mistakes. Keep seeking God. Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past and start creating the future. Stop playing it safe and start taking risks. Expand your horizons. Accumulate experiences. Enjoy the journey. Find every excuse you can to celebrate everything you can. Live like today is the first day and last day of your life. Don't let what's wrong with you keep you from worshiping what's right with God. Burn sinful bridges. Blaze new trails. Don't let fear dictate your decisions. Take a flying leap of faith. Quit holding out. Quit holding back. Go all in with God. Go all out for God.Mark Batterson Repeating The Past Sayings By Mark Batterson: Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Set
Again, Syd had that feeling, the past as an echo, repeating itself as it faded. The poor had longed for Jubilee to save them from the powerful, and now the one-time patrons longed for the Machine to do the same. Every revolution believes it can return something that had been lost, but nothing is ever the same. The only thing that endures are people. Syd saw that clearly now, and perhaps so too did Marie. You could serve a revolution, an idea that ended up an echo if itself, or you could serve people, with their maddening contradictions. You couldn't serve both. You had to choose.Alex London Repeating The Past Sayings By Alex London: Again, Syd had that feeling, the past as an echo, repeating itself as it faded.
The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but of its presenceT. S. Eliot Repeating The Past Sayings By T. S. Eliot: The historical sense involves a perception, not only of the pastness of the past, but
Somewhere along the line Coltrane's soprano sax runs out of steam. Now it's McCoy Tyner's piano solo I hear, the left hand carving out a repetitious rhythm and the right layering on thick, forbidding chords. Like some mythic scene, the music portrays somebody's - a nameless, faceless somebody's - dim past, all the details laid out as clearly as entrails being dragged out of the darkness. Or at least that's how it sounds to me. The patient, repeating music ever so slowly breaks apart the real, rearranging the pieces. It has a hypnotic, menacing smell, just like the forest.Haruki Murakami Repeating The Past Sayings By Haruki Murakami: Somewhere along the line Coltrane's soprano sax runs out of steam. Now it's McCoy Tyner's
Understand the nature and influence of repeating patterns, from childhood experiences or even from past lives. Wthout understanding, patterns tend to repeat, unnecessarily damaging the relationship.Brian L. Weiss Repeating The Past Sayings By Brian L. Weiss: Understand the nature and influence of repeating patterns, from childhood experiences or even from past
Is it time uninterrupted? Only the present comprehended? Are our thoughts nothing but passing trains, no stops, devoid of dimension, whizzing by massive posters with repeating images? Catching a fragment from a window seat, yet another fragment from the next identical frame? If I write in the present yet digress, is that still real time? Real time, I reasoned, cannot be divided into sections like numbers on the face of a clock. If I write about the past as I simultaneously dwell in the present, am I still in real time? Perhaps there is no past or future, only the perpetual present that contains this trinity of memory.Patti Smith Repeating The Past Sayings By Patti Smith: Is it time uninterrupted? Only the present comprehended? Are our thoughts nothing but passing trains,
Yesterday you told me that life is a growth school, Father Mike. Every person and every experience comes to us to teach us the lesson we most need to learn at that particular point of our journey. We can either awaken to this act of nature, or we can turn a blind eye to it and, in doing so, keep repeating the mistakes of the past until the pain becomes so great that we have no choice but to change.Robin S. Sharma Repeating The Past Sayings By Robin S. Sharma: Yesterday you told me that life is a growth school, Father Mike. Every person and
In every revolution there intrude, at the side of its true agents, men of a different stamp; some of them survivors of and devotees to past revolutions, without insight into the present movement, but preserving popular influence by their known honesty and courage, or by the sheer force of tradition; others mere brawlers, who, by dint of repeating year after year the same set of stereotyped declamations against the government of the day, have sneaked into the reputation of revolutionists of the first water They are an unavoidable evil: with time they are shaken off.Karl Marx Repeating The Past Sayings By Karl Marx: In every revolution there intrude, at the side of its true agents, men of a
Our evolution depends on our memory. If we keep forgetting the mistakes of the past, only to keep repeating them, then we will never change. And if we keep recycling through the exact same kind of leaders - the kind who do not propel us forward, but only hold us back - then perhaps what we really need now is a completely different style of leadership altogether. We need heart-driven leaders, not strictly mind-driven ones. We need compassionate humanitarians, not greedy businessmen. Peacemakers, not war instigators. We need unity, not division. Angels, not devils.Suzy Kassem Repeating The Past Sayings By Suzy Kassem: Our evolution depends on our memory. If we keep forgetting the mistakes of the past,
Only by embracing the lessons embedded in our city's history can we avoid repeating the failed policies of both the recent and distant past, and have true clarity about what action is required to correct today's public policies. Recurring themes emerge throughout the history of New York City with regards to public policy. Even though the city has changed immensely, these themes are important for debating policy and giving us an informed perspective on how to move forward.Ralph Da Costa Nunez Repeating The Past Sayings By Ralph Da Costa Nunez: Only by embracing the lessons embedded in our city's history can we avoid repeating the
At some point, most of us stop living out of imagination and start living out of memory. Instead of creating the future, we start repeating the past. Instead of living by faith, we live by logic. Instead of going after our dreams, we stop circling Jericho. But it doesn't have to be that way.Mark Batterson Repeating The Past Sayings By Mark Batterson: At some point, most of us stop living out of imagination and start living out
So this anchoring in some way, in some important way in the past without repeating the past, but on the basis of the past building something new: that is what is important.Gunther Schuller Repeating The Past Sayings By Gunther Schuller: So this anchoring in some way, in some important way in the past without repeating
We can't change the past. But we will keep repeating it if we continue to live by the beliefs and agreements set in response to past events.Julie Tallard Johnson Repeating The Past Sayings By Julie Tallard Johnson: We can't change the past. But we will keep repeating it if we continue to
As our eyes meet, I get a kind of deja vu, but instead of feeling like I'm repeating something in the past, it feels like I'm experiencing something that will happen in my future...It's like knowing all the words to a song but still finding them beautiful and surprising.Nicola Yoon Repeating The Past Sayings By Nicola Yoon: As our eyes meet, I get a kind of deja vu, but instead of feeling
It is a highly valued function of society to prevent changes in the rules of the many games it embraces ... Deviancy, however, is the very essence of culture. Whoever merely follows the script, merely repeating the past, is culturally impoverished. There are variations in the quality of deviation; not all divergence from the past is culturally significant. Any attempt to vary from the past in such a way as to cut the past off, causing it to be forgotten, has little cultural importance. Greater significance attaches to those variations that bring the tradition into view in a new way, allowing the familiar to be seen as unfamiliar, as requiring a new appraisal of all that we have been- and therefore all that we are. Cultural deviation does not return us to the past, but continues what was begun but not finished in the past ... Properly speaking, a culture does not have a tradition; it is a tradition.James P. Carse Repeating The Past Sayings By James P. Carse: It is a highly valued function of society to prevent changes in the rules of
We cannot live in the past; it is gone. Nor can we live in the future; it is forever beyond our grasp. We can live only in the present. If we are unaware of our present actions, we are condemned to repeating the mistakes of the past and can never succeed in attaining our dreams for the future.S. N. Goenka Repeating The Past Sayings By S. N. Goenka: We cannot live in the past; it is gone. Nor can we live in the
At first, like a lot of trauma survivors, I was impatient and wanted immediate results. Once I caught myself in this behavior, I realized that it takes consistent commitment to heal patterns. After three or four months, I noticed a huge positive shift within myself. I felt a new level of happiness and contentment that I hadn't even known existed. I finally understood how my old trauma patterns had attracted drama in my present life. once I saw this dynamic, I made a conscious decision to "Drama Detox," and the patterns faded away.Doreen Virtue Repeating The Past Sayings By Doreen Virtue: At first, like a lot of trauma survivors, I was impatient and wanted immediate results.
Will this generation be able to turn things around and learn a valuable lesson from all of this? I hope so, but I have my doubts. The damage has been done. And as a lifelong student of history, it's quite evident that human beings don't learn from the mistakes of past generations.Aaron B. Powell Repeating The Past Sayings By Aaron B. Powell: Will this generation be able to turn things around and learn a valuable lesson from
It's important to interrogate history, it's important to document history, because as a society we need constant reminders of the things that we've done in the past in the hope we can stop repeating these horrible lessons.Matana Roberts Repeating The Past Sayings By Matana Roberts: It's important to interrogate history, it's important to document history, because as a society we
To avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, an alert citizenry today should take the trouble to learn how easy it can be for a powerful minority to manipulate information to win the support-or the indifference-of the majority towards an action.Randal Marlin Repeating The Past Sayings By Randal Marlin: To avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, an alert citizenry today should take the
I am touched by her life, how it moves forward, pulses and springs. There is no fragmentation, nothing stunted or wedged. I circle back, I regress, the past doesn't let go. It might as well be a malfunction, a scene repeating itself, a scratched vinl record, a stutter.Leila Aboulela Repeating The Past Sayings By Leila Aboulela: I am touched by her life, how it moves forward, pulses and springs. There is
The future must no longer be determined by the past. I do not deny that
the effects of the past are still with us. But I refuse to strengthen them
by repeating them, to confer upon them an irremovability the equivalent
of destiny, to confuse the biological and the cultural. Anticipation
is imperative.

How foolish we are to keep repeating the negative memories from the past in our minds, while rarely thinking of the good times, nor being thankful for what we have. It is not often that nations learn from the past, even rarer that they draw the correct conclusions from it.Henry Kissinger Repeating The Past Sayings By Henry Kissinger: It is not often that nations learn from the past, even rarer that they draw the
But the past does not exist independently from the present. Indeed, the past is only past because there is a present, just as I can point to something over there only because I am here. But nothing is inherently over there or here. In that sense, the past has no content. The past
or more accurately, pastness
is a position. Thus, in no way can we identify the past as past." p. 15
" ... But we may want to keep in mind that deeds and words are not as distinguishable as often we presume. History does not belong only to its narrators, professional or amateur. While some of us debate what history is or was, others take it into their own hands." p. 153

Everything would turn out exactly the same, and I would return here for a second time, and then, if I was fool enough, a third time, waiting, as now, for my other to touch the canvas. And it would be progressively worse, because though I would know slightly more each time, I would still be powerless to change my fate. Perhaps I would be unaware of the previous decision, yet choose again to come back. Or worse, I would become aware that I was inadvertently repeating the same mistake for a horrific split second just after I made the decision. Infinity was terrifying. Its abyss makes my skin crawl.Wesley Stace Repeating The Past Sayings By Wesley Stace: Everything would turn out exactly the same, and I would return here for a second
The philosopher and historian George Santayana once remarked that those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat its mistakes. A perusal of some of the essays will reveal that this is not always true. In some cases psychologists have known about mistakes of the past and sought to repeat them. But the recurrence can sometimes be fruitful: going round in circles can be a good thing, provided the circle is large that when one returns to the task one sees it in a new light and the error brings new insights.Noel Sheehy Repeating The Past Sayings By Noel Sheehy: The philosopher and historian George Santayana once remarked that those who do not know their
The mind loves whatever repeats a pleasurable experience from the past. Regretting the past does not prevent me from repeating it.Mason Cooley Repeating The Past Sayings By Mason Cooley: Regretting the past does not prevent me from repeating it.
Stored in everyone's memory are past experiences of terror. By reminding you of those feelings, fear is trying to protect you from repeating the traumas of the past. As long as you push down your fear, you will not be able to receive it as an ally. But by the same token you can't just act on the basis of fear. At the soul level you see no need for fear, because you don't need protecting. Living in the now poses no threat, and referring to the past therefore serves no purpose. It is safe to go into your fear and ask it where it came from and what it wants you to know. Having seen the world from its perspective, reassure yourself that the soul needs no guardian. Learn from fear, heal it, and ask it to leave.Deepak Chopra Repeating The Past Sayings By Deepak Chopra: Stored in everyone's memory are past experiences of terror. By reminding you of those feelings,
This is the time of myths. They are woven into the present like silk strands from the past, like a wire mesh from the future, creating an interlacing pattern, a grand design, a repeating motif. Don't dismiss myth, boy. And never, ever, dismiss the BookmanLavie Tidhar Repeating The Past Sayings By Lavie Tidhar: This is the time of myths. They are woven into the present like silk strands
Any person who considers himself, and intends to remain, a member of Western society inherits the Western past from Athens and Jerusalem to Runnymede and Valley Forge, as well as to Watts and Chicago of August 1968. He may ignore it or deny it, but that does not alter the fact. The past sits back and smiles and knows it owns him anyway.Barbara W. Tuchman Repeating The Past Sayings By Barbara W. Tuchman: Any person who considers himself, and intends to remain, a member of Western society inherits
Thinking of someone else is what got me damned. It's a mistake I don't want to repeat. (Xypher)
You know sometimes it's by repeating our mistakes that we realize what went wrong the first time. Knowing that, we're able to fix the mistake and move past it. (Acheron)

But there is no truth except truth in relation, and heavenly relation is composed of wheels in motion, tilting axes, turning dials; it is a clockwork orchestration that alters every minute, never repeating, never still. We are no longer sheltered in a cloistered reminiscence of the past. We now look outward, through the phantasm of our own convictions: we see the world as we wish to perfect it, and we imagine dwelling there.Eleanor Catton Repeating The Past Sayings By Eleanor Catton: But there is no truth except truth in relation, and heavenly relation is composed of
